Where the Red Fern Grows

This book is both sad and inspiring. I just finished it this morning. It taught me about hard work, friendship, loyalty, and sacrifice. The boy gives all of his money from hunting to his parents, and he spends two years earning money to buy dogs. He has an amazing friendship with his dogs.

I recommend it. Five stars.

  1. We went on a trip once to southern Utah once with just the boys. Sheryl and Brenda were too little so they stayed with Grandma Olsen. I read this book aloud as we drove along. At one point we were all crying to much we had to stop the car by the side of the road. You probably can guess which part of the book we were in.

  2. I've read it and seen the movie. It is very good. One thing you did not mention is love. I think it teaches that as well.

  3. You keep on reading and reviewing! And inspiring others to not settle for common core curriculum!
